Then Jesus answered and said unto them, "A little while longer is the light with you. Walk while ye have the light, lest darkness come upon you: for he that walketh in darkness knoweth not whither he goeth." (John 12:35, KJV)
This is the solemn reminder we extend to all who profess faith in the truth. “A little while longer is the light with you” calls us to consider the fleeting nature of our existence and the swift passage of time. Each day presents us with golden opportunities and privileges, as well as the abundant mercy of God, ever ready to dispense blessings from His richest treasures. The Savior stands waiting to pour out His favor, and the only question remains: Will you accept His gifts? For the light loses its value when it is neither treasured nor shared with others.
Reflect upon your life—your heart, your energy, your abilities, both physical and mental—as divine capital entrusted to you for growth in service to your Lord during your sojourn on earth. You have been placed in a unique position by God Himself, part of His mighty host, to carry forward His plan for your salvation and that of others. This can be accomplished through a consistent Christian life, marked by diligent effort, by learning the ways and purposes of Christ in His heavenly school, and by yielding your own will to His perfect guidance.
The Christian is called to live in a manner distinctly different from the world. While the world pursues a life of diminished quality, indifferent to the spiritual realm, true life is found only in those who possess the love of God. Their hope is not fixed upon the transient things of this world but is anchored in Christ, the great cornerstone.
"Who hath the Son hath life; and not unto him that hath not the Son of God hath life." (1 John 5:12, KJV)"Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves." (2 Corinthians 13:5, KJV)
