“Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting.” – Galatians 6:7-8 (KJV)

What does it mean to sow to the flesh? It is to follow the desires and inclinations of our natural heart. Regardless of our occupation or position, if we serve our own selfish interests instead of seeking God’s will, we are sowing to the flesh. The Christian life is one of self-denial and the willing bearing of one’s cross, much like the discipline of a devoted soldier of Jesus Christ. We do not ask, “What is convenient for us?” but simply, “What are the orders from our Commander?” A soldier does not seek a life of comfort and self-indulgence, for we find ourselves daily in a spiritual battlefield where two mighty forces vie for supremacy.

Consider your daily actions—what are you sowing in your life? Are you investing in fleeting pleasures, convenience, pride, vanity, or ambition? Remember, “whatever a man soweth, that shall he also reap” (Galatians 6:7, KJV). Instead, sow to the Spirit. Every temptation resisted builds the strength needed to sow more fruitfully in times of trial.

If you sow faith by obeying Christ’s commandments, you will reap a harvest of faith and the strength for further obedience. If you commit to being a blessing to others, God will abundantly bless you. The joy you impart will return to you, for as you sow, so shall you reap.

Abundant provisions have been made for those who desire a godly life, empowering them through the grace and strength found in Jesus, our divine Redeemer. Though the Christian journey may involve taking up the cross and bearing burdens, it is not meant to be a life of constant weariness. Instead, God provides a wellspring of peace and strength, leading to a life filled with true happiness and contentment.

May every aspect of our being be consecrated to God, for our beloved Savior does not dwell in a divided heart. Let our desires be governed by the Spirit of God, that we might be fortified to fight the good fight of faith. Daily, let us ask: What are the orders of our Chief?
