"My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: and I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand." – John 10:27-28 (KJV)

In the courts of Heaven, Christ intercedes for His church, pleading on behalf of those whom He redeemed at the cost of His own blood. The passing of centuries can never diminish the power of His atoning sacrifice. Neither death, nor life, nor height, nor depth—nothing can separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus. This is not because we hold onto Him with unwavering strength, but because He holds us with His mighty hand. If our salvation depended on our own efforts, we could never be saved; but it rests upon the One who stands behind every promise. Our grasp on Him may be weak, but His love is that of an elder brother—so long as we remain united with Him, no one can snatch us from His hand.

Jesus, our precious Savior, is "merciful and gracious, longsuffering, and abundant in goodness and truth, keeping mercy for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, and that will by no means clear the guilty" (Exodus 34:6-7, KJV). Oh, how privileged we are to come to Jesus just as we are and throw ourselves upon His love! We have no hope apart from Him. Only He can reach down with His hand, lifting us from the depths of discouragement and despair, and set our feet upon the Rock. Though a sinner may cling to Jesus with a desperate sense of his great need, Jesus holds those purchased with His blood even more firmly than they can hold onto Him.

I read this passage again and again, for it is full of assurance: "Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession. For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin. Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need" (Hebrews 4:14-16, KJV).

What a Savior we have—a risen Savior, able to save all who come to Him! Let us trust in His unchanging hand, knowing that we are eternally secure in His love.
