"Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them." – Hebrews 7:25 (KJV)
What does intercession truly mean? It is the golden chain that binds finite man to the throne of the infinite God. The one for whom Christ gave His life continually approaches the throne of grace, and his petitions are carried by Jesus, who redeemed him with His own blood. Our great High Priest places His righteousness on the side of the sincere petitioner, and Christ’s own prayer is blended with the prayer of the believer.
Christ has commanded His people to pray without ceasing. This does not mean that we must always be on our knees, but that prayer should be as natural as breathing. Our silent petitions, wherever we may be, should ascend to God, and Jesus, our Advocate, intercedes on our behalf, lifting our requests to the Father with the fragrant incense of His righteousness.
The Lord Jesus loves His people, and when they place their full trust in Him, relying on Him completely, He strengthens them. He abides in them, filling their hearts with the inspiration of His sanctifying Spirit and imparting to them a vital connection with Himself. He works through their faculties and enables them to desire His will and reflect His character. Then they can say with the apostle Paul: "I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me." – Galatians 2:20 (KJV)
The Lord does not allow His suffering and tried children to fall prey to Satan’s temptations. It is your privilege to trust in Jesus. Heaven is filled with abundant blessings, and we are invited to experience Christ’s joy so that our joy may be full. We often lack because we do not ask, or because we fail to pray with faith, believing that we will be blessed with the special influence of the Holy Spirit. To those who truly seek through the mediation of Christ, the gentle influences of the Holy Spirit are given.
Christ is able to save to the uttermost. Let us draw near to Him, that we may receive the fullness of His grace.
