In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by Him; and without Him was not any thing made that was made. John 1:1-3 (KJV)

Christ, the Word, the only begotten of the Father, was one with the eternal God—united in nature, character, and purpose. He alone could fully comprehend the infinite wisdom and plans of the Almighty. The prophet declared: “For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace” (Isaiah 9:6, KJV). His existence transcends time: “But thou, Bethlehem Ephratah, though thou be little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of thee shall he come forth unto me that is to be ruler in Israel; whose goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting” (Micah 5:2, KJV).

Of Himself, the Son of God declared, “The Lord possessed me in the beginning of his way, before his works of old. … When he prepared the heavens, I was there: when he set a compass upon the face of the depth… Then I was by him, as one brought up with him: and I was daily his delight, rejoicing always before him” (Proverbs 8:22-30, KJV).

Through His Son, the Father brought all things into existence, including the hosts of heaven. “For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him” (Colossians 1:16, KJV). Angels, radiant in the light of His presence and swift to execute His will, serve as ministers of God. Yet Christ, the anointed Son, stands above them all, as “the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power” (Hebrews 1:3, KJV). His throne is eternal, and His kingdom is characterized by righteousness: “Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever: a sceptre of righteousness is the sceptre of thy kingdom” (Hebrews 1:8, KJV).

Christ is, in the highest and most profound sense, God. He has existed from eternity as a distinct person, yet one with the Father. He was the glory of heaven, the Commander of the angelic host, and the recipient of their worship and adoration by right. The light and glory of the truth that Christ existed with the Father before the foundation of the world reveals His divine majesty and the depth of the Godhead.

This truth, though shrouded in mystery, sheds light on many otherwise incomprehensible realities. It is a truth so exalted and luminous that it defies full understanding, yet it invites our reverent meditation and awe. Christ, the Eternal Word, is the foundation of all that is true, holy, and enduring, pointing us to the infinite wisdom and love of God.
