To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory. – Colossians 1:27 (KJV).

God’s Word contains many mysteries beyond human understanding, yet too often we stop seeking deeper knowledge after only scratching the surface. When the divine purposes begin to unfold to our minds and we gain a small glimpse of God’s character, we may feel content, believing we have received all the light available to us. However, God’s truth is infinite. We are called to labor diligently, like miners seeking hidden gems, uncovering the precious treasures concealed in His Word.

Jesus emphasized this when He encouraged His disciples to search the Scriptures: “Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me” (John 5:39, KJV). To search means to compare scripture with scripture and spiritual truths with spiritual truths. A superficial understanding is not enough.

We often underestimate what the Lord is willing to reveal to His people. Our prayers, mingled with faith and humility, should rise to Him, pleading for an understanding of the mysteries He desires to unveil to His followers. Even the pen of an angel could not fully describe the glory of the revealed plan of redemption. The Bible tells us how Christ bore our sins and carried our sorrows. It reveals the meeting of mercy and truth at the cross, how righteousness and peace embraced, and how Christ’s righteousness can be imputed to fallen humanity. In the plan of salvation, infinite wisdom, justice, mercy, and love are displayed. Its depths, heights, lengths, and breadths surpass human comprehension.

The Spirit of God rests upon those who diligently seek truth. Those who long earnestly for truth and hunger for the transforming power of God’s Word in their lives and character will surely receive it. The Savior promises: “Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled” (Matthew 5:6, KJV).

Let us not be satisfied with a shallow understanding of God’s Word. Instead, may we continually search for the hidden treasures of His truth, allowing His Spirit to guide us into a deeper, richer knowledge of His infinite love and salvation.
