"Come, ye children, hearken unto me: I will teach you the fear of the Lord." – Psalm 34:11 (KJV)

Every child and young person should remember: "I am precious in the sight of God; I have been bought with a price and belong to Jesus Christ. As His follower, I must practice His virtues so that I may rightly represent my Savior."

Pray often. While working, let your heart be lifted to God. Having entrusted Him with the keeping of your life, do not act in opposition to the prayer you have offered. Watch as well as pray, so that you may not fall into temptation. Resist the first impulse to do wrong. Pray in your heart: "Jesus, help me; keep me from evil," and then do what you know will please Him.

Perhaps you have asked, as many others have: "How can I know that Jesus accepts and loves me?" Should I rely on my feelings? No; the evidence is found in obedience to His holy Word. Take hold of the rich promises of God. Believe His Word, knowing that Christ dwells in your heart by faith. Through faith and trust in God, you can possess His peace and say with confidence: "For I know whom I have believed" (2 Timothy 1:12, KJV). Be attentive to the voice of the Holy Spirit.

There is only one way to live victoriously—serve God with all your heart because you love Him. Seek Him daily, not out of obligation, but out of love, knowing who He is to you. Be faithful in the small things, even when no eye but His observes your work. Remember that you are engaged in Christ’s service. Every day, you can gain precious experience in serving God. Establish the principles of truth in your life and reveal Christ in your character. Do not be content with a low, ordinary standard. You can reflect Christ in character.

Keep your eyes continually fixed on Jesus if you desire to move forward step by step on the narrow path that leads upward. Let this be your heart’s desire: "I will seek Thee, O God; I will follow Thee; I will serve Thee; under Thy guidance, I can and will press forward."
