"Freely ye have received, freely give." – Matthew 10:8 (KJV)
Our loving Redeemer set a perfect example of living according to the divine law. He instructs His followers: “Freely ye have received, freely give.” We are to keep our hearts open to receive the rich treasures of Heaven, and just as freely, open them to share these blessings with others. Oh, how vital it is that we abide in Christ! By doing so, we become constant channels through which God can impart His merciful Spirit to our brethren and to the world.
When we have a living and clear assurance of our salvation, we will express the joy and encouragement befitting a true follower of Jesus Christ. The compassionate and gentle influence of God's love, when practically demonstrated in life, leaves impressions that are “a savour of life unto life.” However, a harsh and accusatory spirit repels souls from the truth and may drive them into the enemy's ranks. What a solemn thought! Dealing patiently with those who are struggling requires self-discipline and the grace of God. But the Lord has given us Jesus, and as we believe in Him as our personal Savior, all of Heaven is within our reach. We are surrounded on every side by the purchased possession of Christ.
Everywhere, there is suffering, poverty, and sin. The command remains: “Freely ye have received, freely give.”
