“Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.” – 1 Corinthians 10:31 (KJV)

This verse offers a profound principle that should guide every action, thought, and motive in our lives. Our entire being, both physical and mental, must be consecrated and under the guidance of God’s Spirit. Even the most basic actions, such as eating and drinking, should reflect our commitment to glorify Him.

The challenge of controlling our appetites is not new. It is a struggle that humanity has faced since the fall in Eden, where the misuse of appetite led to catastrophic consequences. Christ’s example in the wilderness reminds us of the strength required to overcome. For forty days and nights, He resisted the powerful temptation to satisfy His hunger improperly, demonstrating that victory over perverted appetite is possible through God’s strength.

Our first parents lost Eden because of appetite, and our only hope of regaining it lies in the firm denial of unhealthy indulgences. God, in His love, has provided an abundance of wholesome foods. Fruits, grains, vegetables, and nuts offer both nourishment and enjoyment. When prepared simply, these foods provide strength to the body and clarity to the mind, surpassing the effects of diets rich in stimulants or harmful substances.

In regions where fruits, grains, and nuts are readily available, they form the ideal diet. Foods such as meat, which may have been acceptable in the past, now pose risks to health and are no longer necessary for nourishment. God is calling His people back to His original plan—a simple, natural diet that promotes both physical and spiritual well-being.

God has blessed the earth with a rich variety of foods to meet our needs. By choosing to eat for health and strength, we not only honor Him but also prepare ourselves for greater service in His work. Let us, therefore, approach even our meals with a sense of gratitude and purpose, dedicating every bite and sip to His glory.

“Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God” (1 Corinthians 10:31).
