He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels. Revelation 3:5 (KJV).
As the records of life are opened in the judgment, the lives of all who have professed faith in Jesus are reviewed before God. Beginning with those who first lived on Earth, our Advocate presents the cases of each successive generation, concluding with the living. Every name is mentioned; every case is closely examined. Some names are accepted, and others are rejected. For those whose sins remain in the records because they were not repented of or forgiven, their names will be removed from the book of life, and the record of their good deeds will be erased from God’s memorial book.
All who have sincerely repented of sin and, by faith, claimed the blood of Christ as their atoning sacrifice, have forgiveness noted beside their names in the books of Heaven. As they become partakers of Christ’s righteousness and their characters are found to be in harmony with God’s law, their sins are blotted out, and they are judged worthy of eternal life.
The divine Intercessor pleads for the forgiveness of the transgressions of those who have overcome by faith in His blood. He seeks their restoration to the Edenic home, where they will be crowned as co-heirs with Him in the “first dominion” (Micah 4:8, KJV).
While Jesus advocates for the subjects of His grace, Satan stands as their accuser before God, pointing to their sins and failings. However, Christ does not excuse their sins. Instead, He presents their repentance and faith, claiming pardon for them. He raises His wounded hands before the Father and the holy angels, declaring, “I know them by name.” Their names remain in the book of life, and it is written of them: “They shall walk with me in white: for they are worthy” (Revelation 3:4, KJV).
Believers are encouraged to cultivate faith daily by fixing their eyes on Jesus, their “merciful and faithful high priest” (Hebrews 2:17, KJV).
