“For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil.” Ecclesiastes 12:14 (KJV)

God’s people must now keep their eyes fixed on the heavenly sanctuary, where the final ministry of our great High Priest is taking place. There, He intercedes for His people in the work of judgment.

The books of record in heaven, where the names and deeds of humanity are written, will determine the verdict of the judgment.

The Book of Life contains the names of all who have dedicated their lives to the service of God. Jesus said to His disciples, “Rejoice, because your names are written in heaven” (Luke 10:20, KJV). The apostle Paul also refers to his faithful co-laborers as those “whose names are in the book of life” (Philippians 4:3, KJV).

A “memorial book” is also kept before God, recording the faithful deeds of those who fear Him and honor His name. “A book of remembrance was written before him for them that feared the Lord, and that thought upon his name” (Malachi 3:16, KJV). Acts of faith and words of love are carefully noted in heaven’s records.

However, there is also an account of humanity’s sins. “For God shall bring every work into judgment.” Every secret purpose and intention is laid bare in the infallible record. God “will bring to light the hidden things of darkness, and will make manifest the counsels of the hearts” (1 Corinthians 4:5, KJV).

Each individual’s life is reviewed before God. Alongside every name in the heavenly books are recorded every careless word, selfish deed, neglected duty, and hidden sin. Hypocrisy and insincere motives are laid open. Warnings and invitations from heaven that were ignored, squandered opportunities, and the influence for good or evil exerted on others—all are faithfully chronicled by the recording angel.

If your name is written in the Lamb’s Book of Life, you have nothing to fear. Be willing to confess and forsake your sins, allowing them to go beforehand to judgment, so that they may be blotted out. Let your life reflect a readiness to meet your Savior, living in the assurance of His mercy and grace.
