“Look unto Me, and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth: for I am God, and there is none else.”—Isaiah 45:22 (KJV)
Many make the narrow path a burdensome journey. For them, the peace and rest that God has promised seem just as distant now as they did years ago. They view as far-off what is actually near; they complicate what Jesus has made simple. He is “the way, the truth, and the life” (John 14:6, KJV). The plan of salvation is plainly revealed in the Word of God. Yet, many have sought too deeply after human wisdom, while seeking far too little of the righteousness of Christ. As a result, people who could have found rest in the love of Jesus are left doubting, troubled about many things.
We are wounded and defiled by sin—what shall we do to be cleansed from this leprosy of the soul? In the wilderness, when the Lord allowed fiery serpents to bite the rebellious Israelites, He commanded Moses to lift up a bronze serpent, and all who looked upon it would live. But many refused to believe in such a simple remedy. They would not look, and so they perished.
If you are aware of your need, do not pour all your strength into lamenting your condition. Look—and live! Jesus is our only Savior. Though multitudes who need healing reject His offered mercy, not one who trusts in His merits will be left to perish.
Satan may whisper that you are helpless, beyond saving. And he is right—you are helpless. But lift up Jesus before him and declare: “I have a Savior. I trust in Him, and He will not let me be put to shame. In His name, I shall overcome. He is my righteousness and my crown of rejoicing.”
You may feel like a sinner, lost and hopeless—but that is precisely why you need a Savior. If you have sins to confess, do not delay. These are golden moments. Jesus has promised that “Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled” (Matthew 5:6, KJV).
Precious Savior! His arms are wide open to receive us, and His great heart of love longs to bless us.
