My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous. — 1 John 2:1 (KJV)
The provisions of God’s grace know no bounds. The very throne of heaven is occupied by One who invites us to call Him Father. At His right hand stands our Advocate, clothed in our humanity. As our Intercessor, Christ’s sacred duty is to present us before the Father as His redeemed children. He pleads on behalf of those who receive Him, for He has paid the ransom with His own blood. By the virtue of His merits, He grants us the privilege of becoming members of the royal family—sons and daughters of the King of heaven. The Father, in His infinite love, accepts and welcomes those whom Christ calls His own. He is satisfied with the atonement made, glorified through the incarnation, life, death, and mediation of His beloved Son.
In the name of Jesus, our prayers ascend to the Father. Christ intercedes for us, and in response, the Father opens the treasures of His grace, inviting us to claim, enjoy, and share them. Through Christ, the divine and the human are united. He places the full virtue of His righteousness on the side of the repentant sinner. As our Intercessor, He pleads before the Father while we, in our great need, approach God in faith, relying on the merits of Him who gave His life for the world. When we acknowledge before God our trust in Christ’s righteousness, our prayers become fragrant with His intercession.
As we draw near to the Father through the sacrifice of our Redeemer, Christ brings us close to Himself, embracing us with His humanity while holding fast to the throne of the Infinite with His divinity. He places His merits as sweet incense into the censer of our prayers, sanctifying our petitions and drawing our hearts heavenward.
Yes, Christ is the channel through which our prayers reach God and through which heaven’s blessings flow to us. He is our Mediator, ensuring that the prayers of His faithful children are received and answered.
Pray, then, with unwavering faith and trust. The Angel of the Covenant, our Lord Jesus Christ, stands as our Advocate, securing the acceptance of every heartfelt plea lifted in His name.
