January 24 - The Perfect Example for Humanity

“And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favour with God and man.” (Luke 2:52, KJV)

From His earliest years, Jesus lived the life of a diligent worker. In His youth, He labored alongside His earthly father as a carpenter, bringing honor to all forms of honest work. Though He was the King of glory, He chose a humble trade to rebuke idleness and elevate every task as noble and worthy. From childhood, He was a model of obedience and industriousness. Jesus was like a pleasant ray of sunshine within His family circle, faithfully and cheerfully fulfilling the simplest of duties required by His modest upbringing.

Despite His wisdom, which astonished even the learned teachers, Jesus submitted Himself humbly to His earthly guardians. The knowledge He gained daily regarding His divine mission did not distract Him from fulfilling the most ordinary responsibilities. He joyfully engaged in the tasks common to young people in humble homes burdened by poverty. Jesus understood the trials and temptations of children, for He shared in their experiences and endured their pains. His resolve to do what was right was unwavering. Even when tempted, He refused to stray from the strictest truth and righteousness.

Jesus is the ideal for all humanity. He left a perfect example for childhood, youth, and adulthood. He came to Earth and experienced every stage of human life. He spoke and acted as other children and young people, except that He never sinned. Sin had no place in His life. He lived continually in an atmosphere of heavenly purity.

In the sanctuary of His home, Jesus received His education, not only from His earthly parents but also from His heavenly Father. As He grew older, God revealed more and more of the great mission ahead of Him. Despite this knowledge, Jesus never displayed arrogance or superiority. He never caused pain or anxiety to His parents through disrespect. Instead, He delighted in honoring and obeying them. Though aware of His divine calling, He consulted their wishes and submitted to their authority.

Jesus’ life teaches us that purity, humility, and diligence are the foundation of true greatness. His example calls us to live in harmony with God’s will, to honor our earthly responsibilities, and to grow daily in wisdom and grace. May His life inspire us to follow His perfect path in all stages of our own lives.
